Tell the President: Act now on executive action for all 11 million
The President’s decision to punt executive action until after the election may have cost Democrats the Senate. But worse than trading votes for the hope of Senate control is the assumption that Latinos and our allies will blindly support political parties over the issues that matter most to our families. Now that the election is over, President Obama has run out of excuses to delay action one minute longer.
If we don’t urge President Obama to act, he could use the Republican- Senate as yet another excuse to either provide relief for a small number of immigrants, or worse, kick it down the line until it is no longer his problem but becomes an issue for the 2016 Presidential election. Meanwhile, our communities will continue to suffer. Since the President's last delay, nearly 66,000 men, women, and children have been deported — that's thousands of families torn apart in traumatic ICE raids. We must tell President Obama to act now for all 11 million.
