    The Message

United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions and State Attorneys General:

ExxonMobil lied to the public about climate change for decades, covering up its own research and waging a public misinformation campaign designed to cast doubt on the reality of climate change and its connection to fossil fuels.

Latinx communities in the US and Latin America are among the most vulnerable to climate change, and some of the hardest hit by pollution from fossil fuels. I am writing to demand that ExxonMobil be held accountable for intentionally misleading the world and preventing action on perhaps the biggest crisis facing our communities and our planet.

I call on you to immediately investigate ExxonMobil’s actions in light of recent reports and hold the company and its directors accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

ExxonMobil is a climate disaster! For almost forty years, ExxonMobil has known the truth about climate change. But in public, they’ve lied about it, spending huge amounts of money to cast doubt on climate science and the danger of fossil fuels. Meanwhile, Latinx communities are breathing in toxic pollution and facing the consequences of climate change. Demand ExxonMobil be investigated and held accountable. #CorporateScum

A recent investigative report just revealed that ExxonMobil has known for almost forty years that climate change is real, and fossil fuels are to blame – according to the company’s own research. Meanwhile, ExxonMobil has waged an aggressive public campaign of misinformation, questioning the reality of climate change, and lobbying against efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Latinx communities in the US and Latin America are among the most vulnerable to climate change, and the hardest hit by pollution from fossil fuels. We need to demand accountability for those who have intentionally misled the world and prevented action on the crisis facing our communities and our planet.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has already launched an investigation into ExxonMobil’s actions – it’s time to demand that other law enforcement holds ExxonMobil accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Join us in calling on US Attorney General Jeff Sessions and State Attorneys General across the country to investigate ExxonMobil.
