    The Message

    To Walmart CEO Doug McMillon:

You want the world to think Walmart is treating its workers well, but it’s hard to take that seriously when you earn over $9,000 an hour as Walmart's CEO and people who work for you are still earning poverty wages.

We the undersigned Presente members call on Walmart to pay associates $15 an hour with consistent, full-time hours; establish and follow a healthy sick-time policy, because no one should be afraid to lose their job when they become sick; and respect all associates by putting an end to intimidation, discrimination, and unjust and unlawful terminations.

Walmart has an opportunity to change its image from being the sort of corporation that has increased inequality and made our economy stagnate, into the sort of corporation that will bring all of us forward. We urge you to act now and treat your workers with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Following years of huge worker protests and massive strikes, Walmart is feeling the heat from workers and consumers and is deeply worried about its image. Now’s our chance to make sure Walmart workers, many of whom are Latino, are finally treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Our country is at a crossroads. Although our economy has started to improve – mostly benefiting those on Wall Street – many of us are still left without jobs or scrambling to survive. Now’s our chance to take our economy back and we can start with Walmart.

One of the largest corporations in the world, where the CEO Doug McMillon makes over $9,000 an hour, should not be paying its workers inconsistent, poverty wages. Walmart heard us before, and if enough of us stand together, they’ll hear us again. Tell Walmart CEO Doug McMillon to pay workers $15 an hour with consistent, full-time hours.
