Vote Yes on Proposition 47!
What you invest in grows. Too many of Califiornia's dollars have been spent on a broken, ineffective, and inhumane prison system instead of in the education system that will keep kids out of prison and put them on a path to success. Every inmate imprisoned for a nonviolent drug offense or petty crime costs $62,000 each year. The real crime here is that the state has been stealing that money from our kids' educations.
If Proposition 47 passes, this will all change. California will end felony sentencing for drug possession and petty theft crimes. This would permanently reduce incarcerations and shift one billion dollars from state corrections to K-12 school programs and mental health and drug treatment over the next 5 years alone.
But this incredible opportunity to create a brighter future for California's children will pass us by if Proposition 47 fails at the polls this November. It's important that all Californians, including you, get out to vote for Proposition 47. Will you pledge to vote for Proposition 47 in this fall's election?
