The Biden-Harris administration recently announced Cecilia Muñoz, President Obama’s former top immigration adviser, to their transition team. During her time in the White House, Muñoz championed the Obama Administration’s brutal and inhumane mass deportation and family separation policies, including the administration’s deportation of thousands of Central American children, failed programs like S-COMM that led to widespread criminalization and incarceration of Latinx and migrant communities, and the decision to kill an executive order that would have halted deportations. These devastating policies resulted in massive human rights violations, while expanding the migrant deportation and torture apparatus.
Human rights defenders, voters, progressive organizations, and leaders like you showed up to the polls in record numbers to ensure that the next administration do right by our communities, protect our families, and defend the rights of immigrants. Now, it’s our job to continue pushing leaders to lead to make our democracy work for all of us.
Sign this petition and tell the incoming Biden/Harris Administration to rescind the appointment of Cecilia Muñoz to their transition team immediately and move away from inhumane immigration policies.
